Who Needs Clubs to Fight?
There are always reasons to fight. You fight to live. Fight to protect someone. Fight to get emotions out of your system. And fight to prove something. This is the latter type of fight. Honestly, Nida is pretty shocked he managed to convince Omega to meet him here today, to even entertain the idea of fighting with a 'kid.' But somehow he's managed it, and Nida stretches on the padded floor of the gym floor (took a decent bribe to get the front desk guy of the gym to look the other way, and a promise that Nida would clean up after), frowning across at Omega.
"So, we going for a fist fight? Because that's not what I'm hoping to teach Theta. I can only do basic martial arts. You know, normal self defense stuff. I'm going to teach him that too, but the goal is something a bit more... useful in a bad situation."
That brings his gaze to the padded leather case in the corner. Walking here with that had been hard, though finding a bo-staff online had been surprisingly easy. Not that he'd use that for this. No, tambo would be better for Theta, but staff would come later. Easy to improvise a pole after all.

"I can be a bad situation," he says. Nida is stretching. Because they always give you time to do that.
And Nida brought weapons. Omega had considered it but no, too easy to accidentally hurt Nida. He's not trying to break Theta's friend. Just...to prove a point.

Stubborn men are very stubborn. Nida is going to have to school him. "I promise to do my best to not break any of your bones."
With that he moves to the case, unzips it, and pulls out the tappered length of wood. He smiles as he runs his hands over it before twirling the length easily over his fingers.
Pride goeth before a fall
Nida couldn't break Omega's bones if he tried. Omega is unbreakable.
Re: Pride goeth before a fall
His free hand jerks and twists and a metal bar the length of his forearm slides into his hand. "Tambo. These would be the first training method. As for the pole, easy to improvise. Broom, length of wood, anything can be turned into something that one of these two disciplines can make use of. I want him safe, and I'm damn good at what I do."
He leans the pole against his shoulder and flicks the tambo out with his other hand, before tossing the metal poles aside.
Re: Pride goeth before a fall
Omega can't wait until Theta is old enough for a gun.
Re: Pride goeth before a fall
He picks up the bo again and moves into a ready stance. "I just want you to know, you're making a mistake underestimating me. Which is what I hope people will do with Theta. He'll be safer if people don't expect it."
Go for his shoulder.
Omega drops into a Philly Shell, arms crossed in front of him. He's going to have to twist to avoid the stick, but this stance will turn that into an advantage. "Bring it on, kid."
Re: Go for his shoulder.
Nida gives a resigned sigh. He is gong to have to beat the hell out of Omega to prove himself. Anything less won't cut it. And the man can't even believe how unimpressed his stance leaves Nida. Been there, done that.
"I apologize in advance for proving to you that I am not some kid you can pummel to prove your point."
With that he slides into his own stance, as naturally as breathing. He won't make the first move. He is certain he has the better patience here.

Re: Go for his shoulder.
Testing blows it is then. Nida takes a quick step back, renewing the important distance between them even as he twists the staff sharply to deal a rap against the back of Omega's hand. Getting in that close isn't something he wants. He would rather not give the larger man an easy place inside of his easiest blocks and parries.
Re: Go for his shoulder.
If he ducks, and Nida swings, he can block it and get in. Or he could fake out an overhand and go for the disarm. No, save that for later. Omega bobs and throws low, ready to slide closer.

Re: Go for his shoulder.
"So, this is what you're going to teach Theta? Waving a broom at people like an old lady who sees a mouse?"
Trash talk is one of Omega's favorite strategems.
Re: Go for his shoulder.
Re: Go for his shoulder.
"Who said I'm the mouse?" Omega fakes high, aims low. All he wants is to get close enough to grab Nida. If he can.
Re: Go for his shoulder.
He's good. Not trained for years while you're a kid and thus everything is ingrained good. But good enough that Nida thinks with a bit more practice from Omega it might get pretty interesting. But for now he's got speed, reach, and training. If he had more time and experience he'd be deadly.
Omega is so bad at hand to hand. So bad.
It's no good. His fingers are well and truly not working -he'll be fine in ten minutes, but in the middle of a fight that might as well be ten years. At least they're locked up in a fist, so he can block and punch, if not strike or grab.
He circles, trying to get the light in Nida's eyes. Maybe if he had a really big watch...
Re: Omega is so bad at hand to hand. So bad.
What he sees now makes him smile too. The way that Omega shakes his arm, that means he's found an old wound. Easy to abuse. And Nida's more than willing to do that. The small part of his swordsmanship training tells him to abuse the spot, but staffs don't work like that quite as well. He shifts his stance a bit, deciding to hold his ground for the moment, and he goes for motion. A thrust of his bo-tip at the kneecap of the leg he knows is injured. Another jab for the stomach to knock the wind out of him if it hits, and one more higher up, aiming once again for that hurt shoulder.

Surrender? Omega has never surrendered in his life. Whatever other skills he may lack, Omega has endurance enough to outlast anyone.

All the while he spins the staff easily through his fingers, circling Omega slowly. "I have spent the last five years of my life learning to be a weapon. I chose this, I dedicated myself to this. And I will make you respect that and what I can do for Theta. Even if it means beating you into bloody submission."
Omega does not have parents and is Very Bad at empathy
It doesn't matter. Omega needs to knock Nida off balance, and Nida just handed him a way to do that, gift-wrapped. "That was when your parents got shot? Because if this is an improvement over you then, I question how your parents tied their own shoes."
Re: Omega does not have parents and is Very Bad at empathy
He's more than picked up on where Omega and his other brothers went wrong. "He's scared. He's fragile. He's got no confidence and no ability to stand up for himself. I'm trying to show you that I've got that. I'm an orphan who lived through a war and I'm not hiding in a corner shaking. I want to help. I want Theta to be confident and strong and somewhere, in your best intentions, you missed that."
no subject
"Missed what, your intentions? Your intentions have been very clear. Though I hope you have no hidden ones, because at the rate Theta's going..."
Yes, he'll throw his own brother under the bus to win a fistfight.
"You're young, perhaps you haven't learned." Omega pours as much condesnation in his tone as he can. That always makes people mad. "Sometimes, things get broken and they can't be fixed."
