Who Needs Clubs to Fight?

There are always reasons to fight. You fight to live. Fight to protect someone. Fight to get emotions out of your system. And fight to prove something. This is the latter type of fight. Honestly, Nida is pretty shocked he managed to convince Omega to meet him here today, to even entertain the idea of fighting with a 'kid.' But somehow he's managed it, and Nida stretches on the padded floor of the gym floor (took a decent bribe to get the front desk guy of the gym to look the other way, and a promise that Nida would clean up after), frowning across at Omega.

"So, we going for a fist fight? Because that's not what I'm hoping to teach Theta. I can only do basic martial arts. You know, normal self defense stuff. I'm going to teach him that too, but the goal is something a bit more... useful in a bad situation."

That brings his gaze to the padded leather case in the corner. Walking here with that had been hard, though finding a bo-staff online had been surprisingly easy. Not that he'd use that for this. No, tambo would be better for Theta, but staff would come later. Easy to improvise a pole after all.

"Get up when you're ready," Nida says, backing up far enough that Omega can't take him with any quick moves. "If you think we're done you've got another thing coming. This isn't over until you surrender."

Tiny little asshole. Omega waits a second more to see if Nida will come check on him, then climbs to his feet with a stiffness he only has to fake halfway. "If I was a real bad guy, I would just shoot you," he says.

Surrender? Omega has never surrendered in his life. Whatever other skills he may lack, Omega has endurance enough to outlast anyone.

"When my home was attacked, the soldiers that did it had guns, Omega. I killed five while defending the bridge and making course adjustments. I did this without getting more than a few bruises and one bullet grazing my shoulder. Yeah, I may not have supernatural supplements anymore, but I still have the skills and the reflexes. And idiots like you who see a stick and think they can win."

All the while he spins the staff easily through his fingers, circling Omega slowly. "I have spent the last five years of my life learning to be a weapon. I chose this, I dedicated myself to this. And I will make you respect that and what I can do for Theta. Even if it means beating you into bloody submission."

"You're very dramatic," Omega notes. Did he actually say something about Nida teaching Theta? Or is this round eighty seven of Everyone Assumes Omega Shuts Down His Brothers Every Time? It might be the first one; Omega remembers complaining at Delta about Theta standing on his own two feet and it is an established fact both of them have problems understanding the words coming out of Omega's mouth.

It doesn't matter. Omega needs to knock Nida off balance, and Nida just handed him a way to do that, gift-wrapped. "That was when your parents got shot? Because if this is an improvement over you then, I question how your parents tied their own shoes."

"I was eight. It was a long time ago and before I could fight. They stood up for what they believed in and died for it," Nida shrugs. He tries not to let it get to him, especially not with Omega. "I get it, I'm dramatic and fucked up. So are you, so is your family. And so is Theta. Especially Theta."

He's more than picked up on where Omega and his other brothers went wrong. "He's scared. He's fragile. He's got no confidence and no ability to stand up for himself. I'm trying to show you that I've got that. I'm an orphan who lived through a war and I'm not hiding in a corner shaking. I want to help. I want Theta to be confident and strong and somewhere, in your best intentions, you missed that."

Omega is not going to let Nida turn it around on him. Oh, he's angry, but Omega doesn't get stupid when he gets mad.

"Missed what, your intentions? Your intentions have been very clear. Though I hope you have no hidden ones, because at the rate Theta's going..."

Yes, he'll throw his own brother under the bus to win a fistfight.

"You're young, perhaps you haven't learned." Omega pours as much condesnation in his tone as he can. That always makes people mad. "Sometimes, things get broken and they can't be fixed."

"Missed getting him there. I want to help. Friends can be harder than parents sometimes, and I want to have that chance to help him. Introduce him to people. Teach him confidence."

As for trying to piss him off for a fight? Well, Nida lets the condescension roll off of him like water. Anger doesn't help in a fight.

"And sometimes the young see hope where the old cannot. Sometimes we can change things because we have different ruts we're stuck in. Now get up so I can kick your ass."

Omega stretches out, exaggerating makinf himself comfortable on the floor. "So...you're going to be mean to my brother in the hope that you can change him with the power of the friendship of your love and you're going to prove it works by hitting me with a big stick to make a point I never disputed."

This is the last time Omega agrees to fight anyone ever. Of all time.

"Grats on not understanding," Nida answers simply. "As for the big stick, maybe I just want to fight someone who looks like he can take it. And who thinks he can kick my ass because I'm young."

"Oh, I can take it." Omega finally pushes himself to his feet. "But that's not why I'm going to kick your ass. I'm just better than you."

"You're really, really not," Nida chuckles lightly, sliding back into a defensive stance. "Hate to break it to you. Or maybe I enjoy it."

"I am merely limiting myself to the skillset of the average punk on the street," Omega claims with a perfectly straight face.

"Which will make it even easier to kick your ass," Nida chuckles lightly. "I'm a soldier, Omega. I'm not a street punk. You are."

"Hey, I'm not a street punk! I'm a certified paramedic." And a former street punk. "And if you're a soldier, I'm the Queen of Sheba."

"You're highness," Nida smirks, giving the most miniscule of bow. No reason to lower his defense.

Yeah, how stupid does he think Omega is. He's going to stand here where it's safe and run his mouth until Nida gets mad enough to get sloppy. "My Imperial Majesty, please. I am no mere duke."

"Your imperial doucheness," Nida corrects himself easily. "You know we had entire lessons on not letting anger inpair our fighting, right?"

Omega rocks back on his heels. "You needed lessons? Wow. You must have been really out of control."

"Cute," Nida rolls his eyes. "So, you're really going to stand there and try and make me do something stupid out of anger?"

Yeah, like that's going to happen.

"Should I be shooting for sexual frustration?" Omega bluffs. "Because you are really not my type."

"You're too old," Nida smiles sweetly at him.

"You wanna rethink that, kid?"

"Nope," Nida smiles. "You're way too old to get me frustrated like that. And you can't beat me in a fight. That is the attractive thing."

"That is really not incentive to win, you know." Omega points out.

"Yeah, I guess so," Nida grins. "Thing is, you won't win anyway so I don't see how it's a concern.
